This is a one act stage play about hopeless romantic, Nia, who goes on a quest to find the perfect kiss.
NIA What do you have in mind? THE BUTCHER Well, I work at the butcher shop across the street; they don’t pay me much but, I figure I could afford about $299 a month and maybe pay the difference in… (He pauses, and then he continues…) Could I pay the difference in meat? (He grabs a piece of meat out of his pocket and shows it to Nia; he has a, scared of rejection look on his face as he continues to play with his meat cleaver. Nia looks at Brenda and Brenda looks away trying to hold back her laughter and or fear. Nia looks back at the butcher and says): NIA I’ll have to check with the landlord about that (She proceeds to walk him out) But I’ll definitely get back to you. (He bids them farewell and he rushes out. They look at each other and laugh) BRENDA What the hell??? Is he crazy, if you pick him, you’ll have to sleep with one eye open…; and he wants to pay the rest in meat? Wait a minute, what kind of meat? (She shakes her head) He’s something else. NIA I know right. (She sighs) I wonder what it would be like to kiss him. BRENDA What??? NIA Nothing, Oh well, I guess he’s in the maybe pile; it wouldn’t hurt to have some meat in the freezer. (They both laugh)
