P.J., an 8 year-old girl has only one wish on her birthday. A pony of her very own. When her wish comes true, she and her pony build a special bond. This bond is strengthened as they work together to prepare for their first horse show competition. Through this process, P.J. learns that hope and hard work can make your dreams come true.
When they arrived at Mr. Fisch’s farm, all of P.J.’s friends and family were there. They were all standing outside the barn with big smiles on their faces. “What’s going on, Dad,” P.J. asked. “Well, it’s time for me to give you my present. It was too big to wrap,” Dad answered. He had a big grin on his face and it made P.J. nervous and excited. Could this be the day her wish actually came true, or was that too much to hope? Maybe there was just a new horse for her to ride, or a new bike, or even a four-wheeler. It could be almost anything. Best not to get her hopes up too high, but she had wished really, really hard…
I live on a horse farm in central Florida. After several years of writing poetry for and about my friends, and being published in the Blood Horse magazine, I decided to widen my scope and write a children's book. That, and the fact that Peggy kept telling me I should write a children's book. I miss the sweet little books I grew up with. Now everything seems to be monsters, machines, magic, death and destruction. I thought it was time to get back to basics, so I wrote a nice story that a parent could read to, or with, their children. Watch for the further adventures of P.J. and Wonder in the months to come.
Wonderful story. Easy reading. Makes a perfect bedtime story.
