Earth to Earth Being the sequel to JET!, Earth to Earth follows the continuing adventures of Sirk Notaani. Having escaped the clutches of Tranter the crew return to Urf to rebuild the planet, and make it habitable for them and the Men. On landing he finds the village deserted, and with no sign of the Men or their families he soon finds that the Powerful One is still alive, and has to do battle with a cunning and dangerous foe all over again .
‘Good luck!’ said three voices in unison. As the third missile rapidly closed Sirk remained calm, and decided that by putting a few feet between the Dart and the missile, he could drop his speed and wait until he was clear of its exhaust and simply pull in behind it. Just then its motor spluttered, with its fuel spent he was now in big hot shit! ‘YES!’ shouted Sirk at the top of his voice; Cita and Taniche jumped visibly. As the rocket’s airspeed slowed he moved the Dart in closer to the exhaust, and crying in terror Cita and Taniche thought they were going to die! The Dart’s nose wedged straight into the missiles exhaust, and quickly estimating the aerodynamics of that projectile would lend it to much higher speeds, Sirk put the Dart up to warp one and headed for the stars! A quick check on the holograph showed him the third missile was no more than one hundred feet astern! They had come very close to Annihilation! With his new air speed he was easily outrunning the third missile, and breaking Earth’s gravity he simply allowed it to follow him “home”. It was now crunch time, and Sirk had to put some distance between the Dart and the chasing missile, at least until he knew they were safe, so having attained a safe distance he slowed again. Dropping back ten miles he fired a single bolt, and then suddenly veering to starboard he swept ‘round and came in behind the third missile... more of the same! The explosions from both were cataclysmic, and the Dart rocked twice before the shockwaves finally dissipated! ‘Fuckin’ Nora!’ said Sirk, and visibly shaking. ‘I’m sure glad they went off outside the atmosphere!‘ ‘Yeah, last time they didn’t!’ said Cita succinctly. Breathing for the first time since the chase began, Cita, Taniche, and the kids looked at him as if he’d lost the plot. ‘You’re mad!’ said Cita. ‘You’re alive!’ replied Sirk ‘How are things down there?’ said Sirk switching on the mike. ‘Ok Sirk, the prof.’s jammed PO’s frequency - he won’t be launching another!’ ‘The sky is blue...’ sang Sirk, remembering a line from a twenty eighth century song. ‘We’re on our way!’ It was time to get that ugly fat bastard - PO!
About the Author With two younger brothers I was born and raised in Bristol in the United Kingdom. As a war baby I was born in 1942, although my recollection of WW2 is scant, well, it was a long time ago. I didn't start writing until I was 54, but two years earlier a dream [nightmare] of epic proportion embeded itself in my subconscious, to the point that I felt compelled to put it on paper. In 1994 that dream eventually became JET!, and by 1998 I had written Earth to Earth, which was followed two years later by Eskhatos. Having divorced 13 years ago I moved to Wells in Somerset, and now have a wonderful lady in Bristol who I see regularly. Like me she loves dancing, and we go out as often as we can to enjoy disco, rock 'n' roll, and anthying else we can think of. I have to confess though, she is a much better dancer than I, but then, she has an unfair advantage, as she used to dance professionally! Phil Phoenix.
