The poems in this collection may be loosely called object poems because they deal with objects as they look and behave independently of the subject viewer. We are focusing on the nature of things , on the way light falls on them and makes them out as independent existences. The objects tell their own stories the way they would without interference from the subject's perception. The poems are about the way light falls on them, the perspective in which they appear to the experiencer that is different from others. The way they share space with things and us. The ambivalence in this is of course evident. The objects cannot by themselves have existences to be written about ,independently of the human element. The human element is in the choosing of what should be written about. An object poem is therefore merely of academic interest. The poet cannot cease to be the perceiver with a clear bias in his viewing. But there is another thing about objects - the essential beauty of things in themselves , not as a side element in what makes a human being's aesthetic framework. Nothing is trivial or trite. Every single thing in the world qualifies for a place in the essential beauty of the universe and contributes to it independently.
