This children's story is a whimsical tale about quick judgement. Lucy a Canadian Snow goose is separated from her formation while migrating South. She lands on East River Drive in Philadelphia among a group of brown geese, and this is where the judgement begins. This story will help children understand that it is wrong to judge solely on appearance.
It was another beautiful fall day on East River drive in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The morning sun was shining with radiance over the water. The kayakers were getting in their early practice for the yearly Dad Vail Regatta. Joggers, cyclists, and skaters were darting in and out, each competing for sidewalk space. The Drive, as the area is affectionately called, where many geese congregate to search for grains of food, sunbathe, or to gather with other geese. My name is Lucy. I have white feathers, and graze in the grass nearest the curb. As I have done for the past two days, I am busy scratching and searching for "tasty morsels" near the very edge of the Drive’s curb. "No other goose comes this close to the edge, that's why the pickings are so good over here," she thought. She glanced over her shoulder at the brown geese, which were gathered at a safe distance, much farther away from her. This is where the adventure begins!!!
