About the Author
We have divided and subdivided the Earth so that we have not seen each other as brothers and sisters. Now, that all has changed. In our “chase of our phantom dream in the mysteries of Space,” we find ourselves left here in a global universe. We have globalized what was global already and we have discovered the Earth and her peoples to be more precious than we could have ever imagined, precisely, for they are who we are. (If there were another race of people out there, those aliens would only know us as the people of Earth, anyway!) This is the truth for those who are so inclined to believe, and who now can see this truth. For we have been blinded to what is in front of us - to our worthiness as the Earth’s fruit, here on earth. With God’s grace and mercy, may we tarry on, but now, let us be kind to the Earth, to her people, and to ourselves.
THE WRATH OF THE FATHER The wrath of the Father Is in the consistency of the Sun. As a constant ray of sunshine, He is bothered by everyone. He is unobjectionable; He is void of any doubts, He is uncorrectable, A wrath without the shouts. His might and control are legendary. Even to His grace, it is not secondary. With a will that is sedentary, His wrath never tires nor wearies. Be so humble in your face. Assume that your lies are known. Arrange all truth in place, Lay out your heart as it is shown. He is merciful to everyone, Even if our deeds leaves their mark. We are measured against no one. There is no sense lying to the dark. As faith is by His grace, His love we too must understand And our guilt and regrets embrace, All that vengeance of His hand. His Son has come forgiving our hearts. He shows us how in human existence; We ever live with our evil thoughts, That every waking hour is with resistance. We now cannot come but by Him, For us to know the Father. Thy love is in His human theme, Without it we should not bother. Less I say that I can understand, The shining of the Sun, Or all things heavenly or not human, God’s wrath is in His will be done! We may believe we reached saintly pieties; We ever lay prayers to the One up higher, We might fall prey to all wants of niceties, There are still embers burning of hellfire. We know in faith we cannot resist, A certain joy we cannot miss - A complete happiness or total bliss, And righteousness in which we must persist. We are imperfect, as the one-spotted lamb, And thusly, our humility becomes at hand. No one here is privy to the master’s plan, Even if we were He, we could not understand. Only if we can offer up a helping hand, Our meek existence we could understand. “Do unto others, as you would have done to yourself!” It is your only choice; it lies upon no one else. LOVE TRANSCENDS EVERYTHING There is more to it than meets every eye. More to it than they would tell you why. Even though anything wrong could go by, The truth is in how love you cannot deny. Many times people will let you down, You look and find no friend in this town. You search but see no hope to be found. It only seems that there is no love around. Yet love can transcend anything! No matter what they may bring! Sometimes you must let your heart sing, Loves transcends everything! I am a man from humble beginnings. Never have they expected my winnings. It is the weaker who overtakes the stronger. It is my love that is going to last longer. There are those it seems just there to judge, Then, there are those who give a helpful nudge. Yet, no one is there who will be the same, The good in people comes in any shape or name. So do not look for anyone to be kind. Love has no face and love is blind. Love is where it is not expected, you find, Look for the good, look for a positive sign! Since love can transcend anything, You never know what today will bring; You must believe that bell we will ring, How love transcends everything. So, keep your eyes up on the prize; Never let them hear your faithful cries, Love will be there to dry your eyes, Love is there to be recognized! Now I am finished, I am satisfied. Love is not open to be criticized! 9/11, 9/11 (A WAR IN HEAVEN) 9/11, 9/11, There is a war in heaven. It is a pity! They have attacked the heart of the city! New York City, capital of our universe, By no mere men is this great sin Something more, something more perverse, It is a hurt that cuts so deeply within. We now live, but like chickens with our heads off. 9/11. 9/11, A war that has been leavened, Tens years to this very day The city was just central in everyway. Attacked! Some will have to pay! Let us now just pick up every stray! But the war is not as easy, No war like we ever did see. There is a war for heaven: Started on 9/11; Not a war for Muslims, Christians, or Jews, Not played by any of our rules, A deity’s dissection, Predicted, no misdirection. Now has kingdom come? Is there still time for fun? What of the fools? Is there still time to be cruel? What, with our politics, Didn’t our democracy stick? Didn’t we do our fare share? Did we show enough that we care? We gave what we could spare, Here and everywhere! As our days grow colder and much longer, Too much rain and just much warmer; Hurricanes, twisters, and earthquakes, It all gives me the shakes. Everything bothers me! It is not how it should be. So what do they predict? Do not they still just phish? What do they say? Is 9/11 just another day? We have been here ten times already. Heaven is just inside, so “be ready like Freddy.” So go inside, it’s 9/11! Save your souls for your heaven. Go inside, go inside! Since you could not hide, Deep inside is where you will find heaven won, Since we could not simply call 9-1-1! ANOTHER TRIBUTE TO MARTIN Why is there yet another tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.? Yes, they just unveiled a new monument on the Washington, DC Mall, For Dr. King While, somebody might ask: “Why, for him again?” Was not the celebration of his birthday enough? The man was just one when our struggles were rough. I am sure that Dr. King would probably agree! Although, I did not know him, personally! He may have never asked that he be remembered so. Anyone who really knew of him, this too, they may know. Yet, to all amazements there are young people still, Who only imagine stories about Dr. King as unreal. Though his infamous lore not yet, all told. While his true legend still grows bold. He has not yet finished speaking, Nor yet stopped preaching, and we can never stop his teachings. Can you imagine it being done by Those young people who never could even imagine seeing, Who do not have the fear of a segregated seat on their heart? I was born, then, but too young for it to me to impart. All the white-only or colored-only signs, we now do not greet. It was then a reality, but now we only dream it we would meet. Today, as the races are still the same races, Some things have changed on all our faces. “Boy” is not a word used just for “me” And “Mister” not longer a word just for Mr. Charlie Yes, I must admit that anger still does prevail. Now I know how my anger can be acknowledged; not I just put in jail. I know what they called Jim Crow, was a living hell! The Civil Rights Movement changed it all, and it changed it well! Even today, I can be proud if I can call myself slave, When I say that I have worked myself too hard - An indictment that could have buried me in my grave, I know now that I can look ahead and go forward. Please forgive our children, whom, we know not what they do. Somehow, now, some of Dr. King’s Dream has come true. As with all the great ones, we forget what they may have seen, We now live in his vision; we inhabit the era of his dream. Monuments are just the earthly symbols: There for us to recall, all we wish to remember. Now that we have surpassed harsher times, It would only seem to be our crimes, Not to continue living Dr. King’s legacy. We too must dream so that we may see! Believe me, his is the one who needs to be in DC! Today, this, even all his America would agree.
I have a Master Degree in Business Management (from CTU), with a BA in Economics from Dartmouth College. I have been writing poetry since I was about seven years old while growing up in North Carolina. My favorite poet was Paul Lawrence Dunbar. I helped organize several poetry magazines in grammar school, and also, while in college. When I was in high school I took courses in Creative Writing, but I was not convinced that this would be something in which I would be successful. I went for the traditional subjects areas where I had always been an excellent student. In 2007, I published my first book of poetry and in 2008, my second. My aspirations gain life when I was deeper inspired after learning that my grandfather (G.A. Perry), had written a book of poetry entitled, Inspiration, the Gospel of Poetry, in 1952, a book that my uncle, his son James, a state judge, at the time - now an Honorable State Justice of the great state of Florida, had republished a few years earlier. My life has had many twists and turns, ups and downs, which, now at age 56, I am finally beginning to understand. Although, I am new to the pursuit of publishing books, I am very seasoned in expressing my poetry.
