Ever wonder how God can know the future and yet you can still exercise free will? Have you pondered how God can exist as a trinity and still be "One God?" Shedding Symbols takes a closer look at faith based expressions we often believe but have a difficult time explaining and allows us to develop a better understanding of what actually IS.
Picture God. No, stop, don’t keep reading, I didn’t write “keep reading,” I wrote “Picture God.” Look, this book isn’t going to work if you don’t participate and take some time for reflection and self evaluation. Now, let’s try again. Take a deep breath, close your eyes, and picture God. Ok, now presuming you did attempt to picture God just then, what did you picture? If you saw an image of an old Caucasian man with a white beard and walking staff then we’ve got some work to do. If you saw light or a universe or the smile of a child or something sentimental like that then our work won’t be as difficult. If you closed your eyes and took your breath and then thought, “Wait a minute, this seems pointless. I mean, how can I picture God? God is an all encompassing concept that is love just as much as it is math and science. Man, when I really think about it, to attempt to give God a visual form, be it internal or otherwise, is to limit God and to limit God in visual representation or even in words is to not think of God at all so screw this, this author sucks,” …then you probably don’t need to finish this book. Or perhaps you should because it will confirm a bunch of things you may think you’re alone in thinking.
