From the first stirrings of the human mind until the present time, we have increasingly grown into strangers in our strange land –– that is to say, we have become the only creatures on Earth who sense that life somehow contradicts the universe, that it is different from matter –– and oddly separated from it. To our eyes, the laws of the universe seem to swerve in order to create organisms –– in the same way that space-time dissipates as it passes into the atom. And yet, we know that both the atom and living beings are part of the whole. Life integrates the field of reality and if space unravels the way it does, and time moves backwards and forwards –– then space-time cannot be as we thought, and our assumptions regarding both the universe and the life that observes it, must be reviewed. In The Nature of Particles in the Unified Field, John Selye pioneers a new concept, backed by a series of simple and elegant deductions that contextualize and answer the three most fundamental questions we know –– 'What is the Universe?' –– 'What is Life?' –– and 'What is the relation between the two?' The result is an axiomatic paradigm of the Unified Field that provides the terminology and logical foundation needed for further investigation by all branches of science. As clearly as mathematics reflects the universe, this paradigm also leaves nothing vague, and nothing open to contradictory interpretations: The reader follows a series of axioms, and discovers new certainties where there was only expedience before. Best of all, the text is very accessible to a general audience, and little prior knowledge is assumed –– only curiosity, as a long-suspected door is finally opened upon the universe.

In today's pop culture, many use Darwin's teachings in an attempt to explain away the profound marvel of our existence as nothing more than the product of random accident. The Gilligan Principle by Steve Lee offers a critical rebuff to this philosophy, detailing both the impossible technical problems facing the formation of the many complex components of life by random means, while also discussing the detrimental effects this modern philosophy has had on society as a whole. Drawing upon fundamental scientific principles, hard logic and a range of discoveries that demonstrate the remarkable sophistication and elegance found in a living cell (e.g. DNA, "the world's smallest motor", hemoglobin, etc.), Lee underscores the impossibility of this oft quoted, yet vacuous "explanation" for life. Blending Scientific research with social commentary, The Gilligan Principle goes beyond the technical problems confronting Darwinism, focusing on the alarming rise in social dysfunction precipitated by a culture that embraces the "me-first", animal impulse paradigm for society. The Gilligan Principle is a must read for those interested in both the technical problems that sharply challenge the random accident explanation for life, as well as the alarming rise in social dysfunction now tearing our societies apart, and which now threatens to push modern civilization to a very dark end.

Between 2000 and 2009, I had the privilege of writing a monthly column for Scientific Computing & Instrumentation magazine. I was able to provide additional detail about the latest innovations appearing in the trade news, connect these developments with historical inventions, and generally geek out by using vocabulary and terms from physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering. Throughout the decade I was developing and teaching new courses for our nascent B.S. degree in Integrated Science, Business, and Technology. I was able to incorporate information and trends from these columns into the classroom and simultaneously feedback our classroom discussions into the column. As a collection, these expositions track the discovery and development of technology throughout the decade. It is my hope that fellow scientists and engineers would enjoy reading this collection for its familiar jargon and wide range of topics and that fans of technology would find the articles approachable and written as an extended conversation with a practicing scientist.

By Fredric Nelson, M.D.
In 1981, the 73rd General Assembly of the State of Arkansas voted in favor of Act 590, a bill requiring the “balanced treatment of creation-science and evolution.” The Bill was signed into law and quickly challenged in court. The resulting case, McLean V. Arkansas Board of Education, was heard before U.S. District Court Judge William R. Overton, whose judicial decision was entered on January 5, 1982 and found in favor of the plaintiffs. Based on expert testimony, Judge Overton noted that the 5 essential characteristics of science are: 1. It is guided by natural law; 2. It has to be explanatory by reference to natural law; 3. It is testable against the empirical world; 4. Its conclusions are tentative; and 5. It is falsifiable. Using these criteria, Judge Overton rejected the “scientific basis” for creation-science.
However, the same criteria were never applied to Darwin's unplanned evolution. Using the standard put forward by the scientific community and codified by Judge Overton, Falsified: Science vs. Darwin examines the unplanned origin of species and the unplanned origin of life. The book draws rational conclusions by referencing scientific literature and employing simple math. The ebook, Falsified, was abstracted from EVOLUTION NEEDS AN ADJECTIVE, which was published in 2010 and is available online.
